Fear Works.

April 15, 2017

Democrats should get used to the idea that Republicans will do whatever they can to win.  Some years ago, Republicans defeated Georgia Senator Max Cleland, an honored veteran and triple-amputee, by implying that he was a coward.  His opponent and the current Senator from Georgia is a career political hack who never served in the military.

Today, Jon Ossoff has captured the imagination -- and some serious funding -- of progressives around the country in the "jungle primary" for Tom Price's (and before that Newt Gingrich's) Congressional seat.  But the opposition is trying to destroy him, mocking him with video from his college days and invoking the image and threat of Osama Bin Laden to scare potential voters away.  And they'll likely get away with it.

Democrats have to fight back with similar hardball tactics.  Associate the Republicans with the "pussy-grabber" in the White House.  Accuse them of trying to kill babies.  Show rich people popping champagne while average people suffer.  Show people just what Republican policies mean.  And maybe just dub the Republicans and their allies "The Fear Works."
