Tough On Crime? Not Trump
There’s still time for the Biden/Harris ticket to reinforce their law enforcement bona fides and reassure the American public that Democrats will look out for its safety and security. An ad or a national address could solidify their appeal to swing and suburban voters. A segment featuring both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would also be a unique reminder that the Democrats are a team, energetic, diverse, and united:
Joe Biden: For four years, the Trump Administration has undermined law enforcement, politicized our judiciary, encouraged criminality, and made America less safe. When Joe Biden is president, that changes. We'll be tough on crime, work to achieve justice, and make sure the law applies equally to everyone, powerful and poor.
Kamala Harris: As a prosecutor, my job was to lock up bad guys. As Vice President, I'll work to ensure that our laws are fair, and fairly enforced, and that our police serve and protect everyone. We believe in civil liberties, and we believe in our police. The law should be color-blind. Yes, Black Lives Matter to matter to us. And so does supporting our local police and federal law enforcement.
Joe Biden: Our goal is liberty and justice for all. But make no mistake, if you break the law, you’re going to be punished.
Together: Dump Trump, and we can all feel safe again.
