AmeriCare... or Something Like It

If Joe Biden wants to present a forward-looking, aspirational attitude, he should dramatically propose an expansion of Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare.

An ideal title for the new program, which would provide affordable dental, hearing, and vision care, would be AmeriCare.

The devil will be in the details, but it’s catchy and allows Democrats to stake out the high ground in fighting for the American people.

Republicans will fight it, probably trotting out the traditional specter of “socialism,” but his proposal could promise to involve the private sector.  The financing is a lot less important than the promise it holds for all Americans - especially those over 40 who vote.

The name already may already be in use by a commercial health care provider, but it shouldn’t be difficult to find equally attractive variations or alternatives.

Biden needs to shift conventional narratives about the campaign.  This would be an ideal way to do so.
