Biden Their Time

Joe Biden’s debate performance continues to obsess the media and raise huge questions for the Democratic Party and the nation.

But deliberate or not, the Democratic “strategy” of patience and prudence has been wise and arguably winning.

Those Democrats who’ve argued that another candidate would have a better chance of defeating Donald Trump have done so while praising Biden’s presidency.  Those who haven’t taken such a stand, including Nancy Pelosi, have found ways to convey doubt without closing the door on other options.

The Congressional Black Caucus did take an absolutist position of support for Biden, but in recent days Jim Clyburn has opened the door to the possibility of other candidates emerging.

Even Biden’s initial refusal to entertain alternatives to his candidacy has begun to evolve.

Despite the media’s ravenous desire to stoke a civil war in the party, Democrats have stood fast and allowed events to play out.

So far, the polls suggest that public is rewarding their approach.

It’s not like the Democrats to handle their public relations competently.  Since the debate, they seem to be doing a good job of taking care of the most serious crisis they’ve faced in years.  Kudos!
