Democrats Must Bloody Republicans

On some of the most pressing issues of recent years, Democrats have ceded the most compelling arguments to the right.

Right-wingers have had no problem showing pictures of aborted fetuses to give emotional heft to their arguments against abortion.

Democrats have never shown pictures of women lying dead, their bodies torn apart, in back alley abortions, or compared law enforcement based on religion to the Taliban

Second Amendment absolutists have had no qualms about appealing to fear to promote the proliferation of guns.

Democrats never show the brains of dead children splattered on the ground after a mass shooting.

Maybe Democrats should use the power of satire and exaggeration.  They could lift liberally from late night comedians.  Or go for the gut.  When Clarence Thomas rules in favor of automatic weapons, thank him for making it easier to kill large numbers of black people.  Or suggest bringing guns to courts to see if it’s okay with right-wing judges.

That may be a bit extreme.  But when a man is arrested for carrying weapons near Brett Kavanagh’s home, Democrats never ask why the 2nd Amendment doesn’t apply.  Not do they demand that Justices explain why they have special protections not afforded to ordinary citizens.  At least ask why the 2nd Amendment doesn’t apply to Hunter Biden.

Republicans have proposed naming Dulles Airport after Trump and putting his face on a $500 bill.  Rep. Steube of Florida proposed naming America’s waters the Trump economic zone.

These proposals are ridiculous but they push the parameters of political discourses to the right.

Have Democrats proposed honoring Joe Biden or Barack Obama in an equivalent manner?  Have they proposed a Donald Trump sexual assault  bill?  How about honoring the most corrupt justice or dumbest person in Congress?  Where’s the Congressional Medal if Cowardice award?

Republicans point to crimes committed by illegal immigrants to incite anti-immigrant fervor.  Do Democrats point to the cop-killing Trump cult?  Or ask why Republicans hate our system of justice, their fellow Americans, or the idea of defending democracy at home and abroad.

Call out Republicans who cloak themselves in Christianity.  Throw Jesus’s words in their faces.  Demand that they live by the platitudes they profess to believe.

When Republicans call something corrupt, demand that they prove it.  Or assume that they are hiding something.

Elise Stefanik curses our legal system, Democrats should challenge her to tear up her Harvard law degree.

Republicans in Congress want to imprison an American hero, Anthony Fauci. Have Democrats ever tried to brand Republicans as the pro-Covid or pro-virus party?

On issue after issue, Democratic leaders handicap themselves.  They have only a few months to go for the jugular.

And they shouldn’t just do it on MSNBC.  Go into to enemy territory - Fox News.

Be nice, but be ready to throw bombs.

Democrats have called Trump names, but never branded him as the urban unrest, insurrection, or crime president.  Or the racist, psycho, fraud president.
