Stupid People Vote Trump?

Conventional wisdom holds that you don’t insult potential voters. In general, that’s probably still true. Hillary Clinton certainly took a beating in 2016 for using the expression “deplorable” for Trump voters.

But in certain circumstances, maybe conventional wisdom is wrong. Donald Trump has certainly gotten away with treating voters — even his own — with contempt. Maybe Democrats should try it.

"FreedomCare" Would Be A Winning Message.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris could help themselves tremendously if they'd go bigger and clearer on health care. Free care for Covid is fine, but a comprehensive affordable health care plan, one simple to describe and understand, would be a hell of a lot better.

Right now, the Democratic candidates have a plan, but no one really knows what it is, and they're not doing a great job of selling it. In fact, they shouldn't focus on the plan itself. They should focus on how their plan will help everyday Americans.

An Idea For The Lincoln Project

Most attacks on Trump are on his character or polices that harm the American people. Most come from the left. But they could as easily come from the right.

Then he called for smaller deals to jumpstart specific sectors of the economy, which Pelosi immediately rejected. Now Pelosi and Mnuchin are discussing money for the airline industry. And Trump has reversed course again and called for a comprehensive package.

Democrats shouldn’t reward the president’s unfathomably erratic behavior.

Dems Enter A Drama-Free Zone

It’ll be interesting to see if Democrats convention get a bump from their convention, or if in fact anybody’ll watch.

For better or worse, it’s unlikely to provide much drama: the party is about as united as it’ll ever be, they’ve got some decent entertainment lined up, and they’ve worked hard to provide a diverse array of anti-Trump speakers, from AOC to Mike Bloomberg, Bernie Sanders to John Kasich.

The question is whether anyone will care?
